How to clip Minecraft on PC
Updated 5 November 2026
Minecraft clips range from a clutch water bucket in a PvP duel to a build reveal or a creeper ruining an afternoon's work. Clippy recognises Minecraft from any launcher and records while you play, so you press one key and the moment is saved.
Clip Minecraft in four steps
- Download Clippy and open it once. It sits in the tray from then on.
- Start Minecraft. Clippy sees the game start and begins keeping the last minute in memory, with nothing to set up.
- When something happens worth keeping, press F8. That minute is saved as an MP4 named after the game and the time.
- Open the clip in Clippy to trim it, then press Share for a link, or export it vertical for TikTok, Shorts and Reels.
Minecraft moments worth clipping
- A water bucket clutch that saves you from a long fall.
- A PvP combo on a server, with the last hit landing just in time.
- A creeper that blows up a build you spent hours on.
- Finding diamonds, or an ancient city, after a long mining trip.
- A dragon fight or a Wither kill with friends.
Good Clippy settings for Minecraft
Survival moments build up slowly, and two minutes keeps the trip down the mine along with what you found at the bottom.
Unless you play competitive PvP, 60 fps is plenty for Minecraft and keeps memory free for longer replays.
A finished build or a seed's landscape often reads better as a still, and the screenshot key saves one beside your clips.
How Clippy records Minecraft
Clippy recognises Minecraft from any launcher, Lunar Client included, so recording starts when the game window opens whether you play vanilla, modded or on a PvP client.
Only the Minecraft window is recorded, through Windows Graphics Capture, and nothing is injected into the game. Your launcher and other windows stay out of the clip.
Sharing is up to you: clips stay on your disk until you press Share, and a link plays for anyone without an account. Too big for Discord? See sending clips under the size limit.
Questions
Does Clippy work with Lunar Client?
Yes. Clippy recognises Minecraft from any launcher, Lunar Client included, and starts recording when the game opens.
How do I record Minecraft with my friends' voices?
On Windows 11 Discord is recorded on its own track, separate from the game and your mic, so you can keep it or turn it down in the editor.
Can I make a Minecraft clip for YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Export it as vertical 9:16, cropped to fill or with a blurred background, and add up to three text items if you want a caption on it.
