How to clip World of Warcraft on PC

Updated 5 November 2026

World of Warcraft moments are long and rare: a raid boss kill after a night of wipes, a Mythic+ key timed by seconds, an arena win, a mount that finally drops. Clippy records in the background with a replay as long as you choose, so after the kill you press one key and the whole pull is saved.

Clip World of Warcraft in four steps

  1. Download Clippy and open it once. It sits in the tray from then on.
  2. Start World of Warcraft. Clippy sees the game start and begins keeping the last minute in memory, with nothing to set up.
  3. When something happens worth keeping, press F8. That minute is saved as an MP4 named after the game and the time.
  4. Open the clip in Clippy to trim it, then press Share for a link, or export it vertical for TikTok, Shorts and Reels.

World of Warcraft moments worth clipping

  • A raid boss kill after a night of wipes.
  • A Mythic+ dungeon timed with seconds left on the clock.
  • An arena match won from a two-versus-one.
  • A rare mount or item finally dropping.
  • A raid wipe caused by one player standing in the wrong place.

Good Clippy settings for World of Warcraft

Replay length 5 minutes

Raid boss pulls often run several minutes, and Settings shows how much memory a longer buffer takes.

Frame rate 60 fps

Raid fights are busy rather than twitchy, and 60 fps keeps a long buffer affordable.

Second save key Last 60 seconds

Keep the main key for a whole pull and use this one for the kill moment or the loot roll.

How Clippy records World of Warcraft

Clippy records the World of Warcraft window through Windows Graphics Capture, so messages from other apps and your desktop never show in clips. Nothing is injected into the game.

If Clippy does not pick up World of Warcraft from your launcher, add it once in Settings.

Sharing is up to you: clips stay on your disk until you press Share, and a link plays for anyone without an account. Too big for Discord? See sending clips under the size limit.

Questions

Can I clip a whole WoW raid boss fight?

Yes. Set the replay length to a few minutes in Settings. It shows how much memory the length takes.

Can I keep the raid leader's voice in my WoW clip?

On Windows 11 Discord is recorded as its own track, apart from the game and your mic, so you can keep it, lower it or mute it in the editor.

Can I post my WoW kill clips to our guild Discord?

Yes. Clippy can post shared clips to your own Discord channel automatically through a webhook.
