How to clip Valheim on PC

Valheim clips are boss fights, ambushes and the long work of building: a troll that flattens your camp, a serpent fight in a storm, a boss summoned with the whole group. Clippy records while you play, so you press one key when it happens and it is saved.

Clip Valheim in four steps

  1. Download Clippy and open it once. It sits in the tray from then on.
  2. Start Valheim. Clippy sees the game start and begins keeping the last minute in memory, with nothing to set up.
  3. When something happens worth keeping, press F8. That minute is saved as an MP4 named after the game and the time.
  4. Open the clip in Clippy to trim it, then press Share for a link, or export it vertical for TikTok, Shorts and Reels.

How Clippy records Valheim

Valheim is built with Unity and is on Steam. Clippy recognises Unity games by how they are built and knows Steam games by name, so recording starts on its own.

Only the game window is recorded, through Windows Graphics Capture, and nothing is injected into the game.

On Windows 11 Discord is recorded on its own track, separate from the game, so you can keep it or turn it down in the editor.
